Guest badmission Posted May 13, 2003 Just read that the 205 panels are galvanized, hence the lack of rust? Is this true? Cause, if so thats pretty impresive for a small 80s hatch Rob.
Guest ears Posted May 13, 2003 I have always been told that they are galvanized. hence the lack of rust. Bet ford wish they had done the same.
Hilgie 16 2 Cars Posted May 14, 2003 Correct. All Peugeots after septemer 1987 (together with the introduction of the new dash) have a galvanized body and bodypanels. The rusty 205's I've seen which were younger than 1988 had suffered major damage at some point and were badly repaired.
DrSeuss 0 Posted May 14, 2003 So would my 205 be galvanised? it was first registered on the 9th of september 1987. Only one spot of rust on the rear quarter panel. Oh and it has the new dash. God i hate a car thats just at the change over point.
C_W 3 1 Cars Posted May 15, 2003 An 87 with a new dash?? I thought it was 88 that was the change over year and you were lucky to get a new dash if you had an 88 (which I have). The early 205s seems to be pretty good for rust too though. Mine needs some attention soon; both rear arches are bubbling a bit and there is a strip of rust on the rear quarter above the back window.
