Is it to do with the immobiliser in the ECU? Will they all just plug and play, assuming they are not locked? Mine is early XM ending 219 and I am looking for a spare to get chipped. Do i necessarily need the same ECU number obviously this would be ideal, but is it essential?

Mine is early XM ending 219 and I am looking for a spare to get chipped. Do i necessarily need the same ECU number obviously this would be ideal, but is it essential? there may be a few variations but they all are the 3.2 turbo unit obviosly appart from the 3.2 16v stuff which will not be any use for the turbo engine ... some will have no key pad..... some key pad...and later ones transponder.... as long as you use a 3.2 turbo ecu it will be fine for your engine
sonofsam 5 Posted February 24, 2007 Henry, how much more boost can you run safely on your XU9 hybrid? I would talk to the person chipping it as regards what ECU to use personally.
Guest Michael MRK Posted February 24, 2007 i'm sorry mates, but i don't understand somethings here, wat key pad u guys talkin about ??? and what is XU9 Hybrid ???
sonofsam 5 Posted February 25, 2007 The keypad that some of the 406/xm's use to immobilise the ECU via a code entered into the keypad. Henry is running an XU9 engine with XU10 Turbo manifold/management, so I refered to it as a hybrid.
Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted February 25, 2007 I know that previously, we tested the ecu in an S16 to see if it was locked or not, when it wouldn't start and it worked in that. The S16's also use the MAP sensor. I spoke to The Derv Doctor (Galv) yesterday and he said that they all were just about the same and when you chip them, you are changing the map anyway, so in theory any Motronic 3.2 should fit. Currently running standard boost with the boost control solenoid on which is about 0.7 bar, though i think this has a slight over boost in it and 0.5 bar is the standard. However I got my paws on a bleedvalve the other day but I think I will start this in another thread as this one would be good for a reference one for future turboers (if we get an definitive answer!!) tom_m 0 Posted February 25, 2007 (edited) my engine came out of a phase 1 xm henry, so i'd say its a fair bet its a 219 ecu (can't check at the moment its at the unit) you're welcome to it if it is ps. bleed valves melt pistons, be careful boss Edited February 25, 2007 by tom_m
Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted March 12, 2007 No further thoughts anyone? I have found another 219 ecu as well, this has no immobiliser either
pugrallye 0 Posted April 9, 2007 will find that part numbers change to iron out running issues during the production of the engine. Peugeot and citroen were well known for always bringing out ECU flash updates to try and cure problems. Ocassionally, software wouldnt fix it, so there is your hardware upgrade, and you will find not all year & model will be on the same ECU, unless there was a global factory recall Also there will be various immobilisers, keypads, chip keys etc, which would necessitate updated ECU
