mitch205gti 1 Posted February 19, 2007 I've been getting my Pug ready to go back on the road after its been sat in the garage for 3 years and I've had all the lights etc off for a month or two and when putting it all back together tonight I couldn't remember what this wire was for? Its located behind the passenger side head light. Cheers Mitch PS I'm so looking forward to driving her again
GLPoomobile 958 Posted February 19, 2007 I'm struggling to remember too! Possibly the connector for the driving light on that side (or Fog Light as some people mistakenly call them).
welshpug 1,680 Posted February 19, 2007 nah, driving lights have yellow connectors, on my car theres a few random unused plugs in that vicinity
mitch205gti 1 Posted February 19, 2007 Driving lights are definitely yellow! I just can't figure it out, its probably staring me right in the face!
welshpug 1,680 Posted February 19, 2007 what loom is it attached to? the cooling fan loom is quite short and compact, then you have the lighting and ancillaries loom.
mitch205gti 1 Posted February 19, 2007 I think its on the lighting one, but can't be certain until I check tomorrow!
frodo_monkey 0 Posted February 19, 2007 It wasn't connected on my car when I looked earlier, and I haven't disconnected it...
GLPoomobile 958 Posted February 19, 2007 Here's another stab in the dark - is it something to do with the fans? I have vague memories of reading about a spare connector for the fan, possibly like another diagnostic socket to test it is working, or some crap like that. I'm about as much use as a cock flavored lolli pop, ain't I?!
pug_ham 245 3 Cars Posted February 20, 2007 Its a spare connector thats unused on all UK GTi's afaik. (All the ones I've seen have had it anyway). Try to get a wire number from it & see if we can find it on the Haynes wiring diagrams. Spare plug on cooling fan loom is three pinned brown & you can test the fans work by bridging the middle pin to either of the outer pins for low / high speed. Graham. Ren 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Yep it's an unused plug. I seem to remember reading on here recently what it was for though but it's not used on gti's. Ren.
