205 Ecu 1.6, 1.9 Query

Recommended Posts

So, would like to clear out some small questions about the 205 ecu's

1. What is the difference between a 1.6 and a 1.9 8v ecu ?

2. Once i read in a topic which i can't find, that with bypassing a resistor in the ecu you would de-limit your ECU, any help ?

Am sure this is just an easy task for some.

thanks

AFAIK the 1.9 ecus have a shorter injector duration than the 1.6 ecu.

The rev limiter thing, pretty simple, just open up the ECU casing and the rev limiting diode is approx 5mm long and the circuit board is marked D701 next to it. The diode is about 50mm from the top left corner of the board. Just cut it out and hey presto, no limiter.

Don't think the 1.6 ecu has that diode

The 1.6 ECU does have the diode. I removed it on my old ECU before giving it to a mate to use with a race cam.

I couldn't find it...just a space marked on the board- i'll open up another and have a looksee

Aren't there a couple of slightly different ECUs for the 1.6?

Mine was the one ending in '340' iirc.
