Well I decided today that I will just get it ready to lift the engine out tomorrow.

Well before I know it I'm hooking up the engine hoist!

And out she comes!

So now the engines out of the car I put my group N bottom mount on from Sams old engine, Fit my spangly new manifold, Fit a new oil filter and remove the old clutch ready to fit my new one.

Ready to go in tomorrow.

Nice one, looks like your a faster worker than me, took me 5 days to change the head! It was the first time i'd done anything major with the engine before though, plus theres usually little annoying things that take longer than usual or waiting for parts

What was up with the old engine in the white one? or are you just dropping an xs lump into a rallye?

Update, engine in and running. :D albeit it breifly as I have no fuel lines attached. (injection tank carb'd engine)

I bought the white one off a member of the forum, He had a 1.6 TU in it and by the time I got it all that was left was the block. I Wanted to revert it back to a 1360 so used the engine out of my XS.

;)

Just a few little problems to sort (heater doesnt blow and washer doesn't squirt!) Other than that It's almost time to book myself an MOT.

Nice one, good work.

You could have used some new nuts for the manifold to do it some justice!!

In a week or 2 I don't think it will make a difference. ;)

Done and Done!

All running fine and only a few problems to sort now:

Manifold is blowing it's tits off. Are you suposed to use exhuast paste on that join in the middle?

Heater fan doesn't work (god only knows why!)

Yeah mine blew at first. You have to get it pushed in as far as you can and give the bolts a really good squeeze.

I think it's in as far as it can whilst still being bolted to the gearbox. Didn't wanna do those bolts up overtight in fear of snapping them. :P

Will get some paste tomorrow and give it a go. :D

Well had a closer look today and it's actually where the manifold joins the centre pipe.

Even when the bolts are done up the springs are hardly compressed. Anyone else had any problems with this? I've put some seat washers in there at the moment and it's better but I'm not sure if it's still blowing a touch. I'll order a new gasket for that join and go from there. :D

All I need now is:

Compomotive Th's (awaiting delivery)

Tyres (anyone got any money I can borrow? :))

OMP cage (awaiting delivery)

and then a few other small bits.

What do people recon about taking the grille off?

Sam

If youre still using the supersprint center section then that may explain the blowing as the angle is slightly different for the modified magnex exhaust. Looking good though!

No grille for more air + rally slag!

front.jpg

Lovely! :)

I'm not using that exhaust Sam, using the new manifold with my old peco centre section. When I said I'd have it done by the end of the week I was kind of joking but here it is. :D:D

Nah, put the grille back on. You won't get any more air and rally cars still have grilles!

Looks great mate...the alloys could do with a bloody good clean though.

Is that type of number plate legal? And where did you get those arches from?

The wheels are coming off soon as they are being replaced with compomotive Th's so not gonna clean them!

Arches were on it when I bought it but they come up on ebay I think.

Not actually sure about the numberplate, the letters are full sized and it's reflective. I did cut a bit off each end but meh. :P

Exhasut no longer blows, heater works, washers work.

Now I need to replace the handbrake cable/cables as when you pull it on one wheel doesn't even lock then MOT. ;)
