Engine Speed/crankshaft Trigger Wheel Type?

Recommended Posts

Gaz-2006

Hi all,

I'm looking into Megasquirt to control my fuel and ignition setup on my 1.6 gti race car.

I was wondering which trigger wheel is used on the 1.6 XU5JA engine using Bosch LE2 Jetronic.

for example i've seen 60-2 mentioned?

Any info?

Regards

Gary

The 1.6 with Bosch LE2 Jetronic does not have a triggerwheel.

Only Motronic and later have the triggerwheel indeed Bosch 60-2

I think you should setup your MegaSquirt using the distributor.

So i would be able to use the HALL effect on the distributor instead?.. Sounds promising..

So on the 1.6, what other things would i require for it to be up and running?

(I've looked in to it, but i was wondering if anybody had the experience)

you'll find plenty of posts on this if you search for it. As plenty pof people are now running ECUs on their 205. the options seem to be go for a flywheel from a late 205 or use a crank trigger wheel. The search button is your friend :)

agreed, but then the box would have to come off.

Gary do you want fuel AND ignition? If so then Seans option is the best.

If you only want fuel, then use the hall sensor on the distributor.

Cheers for the info, I want to go for fuel and ignition, so i've been having a search around and have looked into the late 205 flywheel, and it looks like the way to go!

Shame really as i have a lightened and skimmed 8v flywheel ready to go on... DOH!

Anybody want a lightened and skimmed flywheel for an 8v...? lol

Miles

For the 1.6 engine you can use the Golf 16v dizzy and the hall effet on that, Work's well and got me another 12bhp when I swaped mine over many years ago.

Miles,

Do you mean the megasquirt will be able to use the HALL effect from the golf 16v dizzy to use as the tach/crank input?

So instead of using the flywheel toothed wheel, i could use the dizzy HALL effect.. (remembering i need to control both fuel and ignition) or will i need both if i was to control both fuel and ignition?

Any better explanations of the sensors i will actually need would be much appreciated..

Regards

Gary
