5 Sided Socket For Bendix Front Calipers

As the topic title say's, I'm after a socket to remove the bolt's from the front Bendix calipers fitted to the 1.6 GTi, I;ve spoken to a few tool people and all come up with nothing so far, Any pointers??

They are usually sold specifially as "Peugeot Brake Caliper Socket" since virtually nobody else uses them. I think Draper do one.

Our Britool supplier can get them, apparently Laser make one too.

I think I've seen them in the Sealey catalogue, but it was a while ago.

if its the one pictured the sealey number is SX029

 

and theres a couple on ebay now, search under "peugeot socket"

 

around £4 which isnt bad.

Hmmm, sure glad i saw this thread as am just about to swap the front 1.6 calipers for a set of 1.9.

 

If not bothered about re-using the 1.6 bolts, as have new bolts for the girling calipers as apparantly they differ, can the 1.6 bolts be butchered off with mole grips etc or are they to tight?

the calipers are bolted to the hubs using standard bolts, you only need a five sided socket to dismantle the 1.6 calipers once off the car.

Doh, I wish I'd understood that lol. Oh well have already ordered a socket.

Basically they use the 5 sided bolts to affix the carriers to the piston/main body of caliper. As Kieran says the main Caliper to hub bolts are std hex. :)

I ordered it last night,

But you'll need the 1.9 bolt's as they are allot shorter than the BEndix ones
