lagonda 42 Posted December 17, 2006 Trying to get my CTi back on the road, all the bits have finally arrived, & I'm actually getting on with re-assembling it. Just got in the car to try the gear lever now I've installed rods from Miles, and I've just realised that the b*st*ard gits who squatted in my house & subsequently stole my CTi ... twice! had chucked my rearview mirror, the one mounted on the screen. No transport & too late for post, so does anyone know if not having an internal rearview mirror is an MoT failure point? Both door mirrors are fine. AAAAAArgh! welshpug 1,680 Posted December 17, 2006 not 100% on this but I dont think so, i.e VANS dont have inernal rear view mirrors do they
easypug 0 Posted December 17, 2006 (edited) Stab in the dark im going to say its not essential as van's, lorries etc which can't see out the rear screen are able to get MOT's. edit: beaten to it... Edited December 17, 2006 by easypug
smighall 1 Posted December 17, 2006 I believe you have to have 2 rear facing mirrors. So you should be fine ditching the rearview mirror.
hengti 2 Posted December 17, 2006 (edited) clicky (useful site) how about getting yourself one of those suction cup mirrors from Halfords etc - might get you through and save you a retest fee - ? there seems to be alot of variation in testers' interpretations - might be as well to make some sort of rear view mirror provision, rather than risk someone failing it (even if they might have misinterpreted whatever the rule is) Edited December 17, 2006 by hengti
Gary 2 Posted December 17, 2006 If you have a full visable rear window then you need an inernal mirror.
Dan57 0 Posted December 17, 2006 Found this. In summary you must have a drivers exterior mirror and either a passenger mirror or interior mirror. You should be fine. I guess I am a slow typer then?
lagonda 42 Posted December 18, 2006 Thanks guys, that's great. Somewhere I've got a pre-war suction fitting mirror, might try & find that, but at least it looks like one less thing to worry about for MoT.
