Testing And Repairing Shocks?

Recommended Posts

Grim.Badger

I've got a pair of koni yellow rear shocks lying about and was wondering if there is a way of testing if they still work as they're a bit old and my local garage says that adjustable shocks are difficult to test.

Also one may be leaking, is there any way of refilling and sealing for a reasonable price?

Testing them without them being fitted to a car is awkward as the usual method is seeing how many times they bounce when you push down in an MOT. They should settle after one, especially as they are Koni's

Koni's can be repaired if you send them back but you should do them in pairs not just one. No idea on cost without contacting them though.

Contact Koni.

could you not open (or close) the adjustment as much as poss on both and then extend/compress both of them to get a feel for how different they are in relation to one another?

unless they feel similar, they're not going to be useable.

if one's leaking, it'd feel weaker.

it's a starting point anyway
