Fixing A Radiator

Recommended Posts

Grim.Badger

My radiator has developed a leak around that big bolt looking thing above the bottom hose. It's completely random and the other day shed half the coolant all over my garage just as I was pulling in after a long drive (lucky ;) ). Can this bolt thing be removed and replaced with new sealant? I can't afford a new radiator this close to christmas especially when I'm saving any spare cash to fit my new engine so I'd rather not fork out £50 when 10 minutes work will sort it.

Cheers :D

I've heard you can plug that up with an old radiator fan switch.

I've worked out that a rubber/plastic washer around the nut has perished and sheds water when the system depressurises so I'm going to try and replace it. I'll post pictures etc just in case the same happens to someone else and I can save them £40.
