Lower Arm Flex Joint

Recommended Posts

vince

Hi,

I just bought a 1.9 GTI and I've some troubles with the forward left lower arm. the flex joint at the end of the lower arm (connecting with the wheel hub) has lots of play, and I'm just wondering if I can replace the flex joint or if I have to replace the whole lower arm??

front lower triangle

here is a pic, it the joint at the end of the triangle, on the right on this pic...

if the joint only can be done, how easy and how long does it take??

thanks

You need to replace the arm complete I'm afraid.

Cheap ones (from any motor factor) seem ok except for the bushes. Buy a set of bushes from Pug (£15 for both sides inc nuts bolts and washers) and put them in before fitting the arm.

Time wise, it depends on when they where last touched, if all the bolts come out ok then half an hour, if it's all seized then it could be a couple of hours.
