westy 0 Posted November 18, 2006 (edited) Does the 1.6 gearbox (Be1, or Be3?) have the same ratio as the MA gearbox (205 xs)? Edited November 18, 2006 by westy
Faz85 0 Posted November 18, 2006 (edited) Hope this helps, it should be reasonably accurate (figures come from Quaife software) 70MPH = 3705RPM Gearbox:- Tyre:- Michelin all patterns 185/55 x 15 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Top Gear gives 18.894 MPH/1000 RPM and a top speed of 122.813 MPH at 6500 RPM Engine speeds in top gear:- 30 MPH = 1588 RPM 40 MPH = 2117 RPM 50 MPH = 2646 RPM 60 MPH = 3176 RPM 70 MPH = 3705 RPM 80 MPH = 4234 RPM 90 MPH = 4763 RPM 100 MPH = 5293 RPM Top Speed in 1 gear = 32.280 MPH And changes into 2 gear at 3692 RPM dropping 2808 RPM Top Speed in 2 gear = 56.833 MPH And changes into 3 gear at 4702 RPM dropping 1798 RPM Top Speed in 3 gear = 78.564 MPH And changes into 4 gear at 5114 RPM dropping 1386 RPM Top Speed in 4 gear = 99.857 MPH And changes into 5 gear at 5285 RPM dropping 1215 RPM Top Speed in 5 gear = 122.813 MPH ****************************************************************** Faraz Edited November 18, 2006 by Faz85
inferno 1 Posted November 18, 2006 maybe my speedo was out then!
Faz85 0 Posted November 18, 2006 you need to factor in tyre sizes also tho...the figures i posted assumed a 185/55/15 tyre with an overall circumference of 1815mm. as most of us have 195/50/15 tyres, the overall circumference is 1790mm, so that would explain the difference, although it would only be a slight difference! westy 0 Posted November 18, 2006 still got the 1.6 alloys, so 185/55/R14
Faz85 0 Posted November 18, 2006 On 14's 70 MPH would be about 3740 RPM Westy Faraz
jackherer 543 Posted November 18, 2006 maybe my speedo was out then! the speedos AND the rev counters are pretty random in 205s, some are better than others but they are never that accurate over the whole range.
Alastairh 47 Posted November 18, 2006 70 mph on my 1.6 box on my 1.9 is about 3500. Yeah 205s speedos are random, surprising how far they can be out if its cold or not.
pug_ham 242 3 Cars Posted November 20, 2006 still got the 1.6 alloys, so 185/55/R14 14" alloys should have 185/60-14 tyres on a 205, using 185/55-14's will make your speedo under read by 3.2%. (indicated 70mph will be 67.76mph). Graham.
