What Inlet Manifolds Will Fit 8v?

Recommended Posts

madspikes

What inlet manifolds will fit the the standard 8v head? I think I can remember reading the 2l Turbo mainfold fits? Does any one have any pictures they could share of just the manifold and how it looks on the engine?

Thanks

Mad.

The story so far....

The port matching is miles out if you put an XU10J inlet on an XU9 head with the injectors spraying onto the gasket ad one point where there is approx 1mm of gasket sealing a high pressure system.

Bugger.

Ok, so that idea has been shot down in flames in a matter of seconds!

I'm sure I read on an old post that it worked.... Not going to argue!

Any others that might fit?

Can you find the old post?

What about that plastic one as found on 405 SRI?

What about a DCOE manifold with a custom plenum chamber? I guess mounting intectors could be a pain?

Why not used your cut off std item?

XU10 inlet (top) after it has been fitted onto an XU9 head. you can see the XU( gasket pattern on the inlet and it shows where the ports are different shapes

Hows the print of the XU10 inlet on the XU9 head and gasket. The injectors spray onto the gasket and the seal is very thin in places so not a good idea, especially on a turbo'd application!!

Miles

The plastic inlet is found on the late CAT 205's and ZX's. The 405 one is more like the 2l one as shown

Thanks for the pics Yorke, as they say a picture is worth a 1000 words!! So the 2L turbo manifold is defo a non starter.

Whats the 405 inlet like? Anyone any pics? Is it an allay one?

Its starting to look like I'm just going to have get a standard GTi inlet modified! Oh well, so much for good ideas!

The 405 alloy inlet for the XU9 8v fitted in them looks identical to the Mi16 one & also has round ports iirc like the XU10.

I've got one downstairs somewhere if you still want a picture just say.
