Electrical Problems - Chassis Loom

Recommended Posts

Powers

These are problems I am encountering on my project car which has an original Peugeot Group A wiring loom. The loom includes most of the original wiring numbers and the O.E fuse/relay box.

1) When my headlights are on the indicators dont work?

2) The indicators only work when the second relay from the right isnt attached.

3) In the Haynes manual the earth from the windscreen wiper motor, attaches to a earth block, however on all the Gti looms I have seen it runs into the fuse/relay box. Where does it come out or what other earth wire is it attached to internally?

4) There is an earthling block near the fuse/relay box that attaches to the bulkhead, what are these wires from? Wire 14W is one of them? As when i connect them to earth and put the sidelights on it blows the fuse.

Any help what so ever would be great.

Electronic problems are so frustrating!

Cheers. Alex

P.S. If anyones knows of any 205 loom specialists i would be more than happy to pay for the work to be carried out.

not 100% but there is an earth on the loom that comes out through the bulkhead under the cooling system expansion tank, it attaches to the ignitoin amp and coil plate, and the earth carries on to the battery.

does sound like a short somewhere though, I know a good PSA specialist in Cwmcarn which isnt too far from you, Bijou, give them a call as they might know a few pointers.

when I called past last week Andrew, one of their mechanics who's worked there 15 years, was working on a Door loom on a multiplexed Xsara  I think his patience was wearing thin but he got it working!

just count yourself lucky its not Multiplexed :D

Cheers. I might do, but i think it will just be one of those things i will need to sort myself.

The earth point stays in the cabin and is behind the glove box, then up a bit.

see how the indicators work with the hazard switch unplugged- I had similar probs with a duff hazard switch

I would also try a replacement indicator stalk!
