What's This Threaded Hole Next To The Dipstick For?

Recommended Posts

I noticed this plug while stripping my engine tonight. I've never paid it any attention before but I think because I saw it from the inside it caught my eye, it's a plug with a square just a bit bigger than the sump plug in it, right next to the dipstick.

Anyone know what it's for? And would there be any chance of it being wide enough to use as a turbo oil return? I know they need to be as wide as possible so there's no restriction, but don't know how wide that is. The return on the turbo seems pretty wide so I'm assuming not, it's always worth asking though! :)

Yeah, its for the oil level sensor & is there on all XU blocks I've stripped. Most have had a sump plug blanking it off.
