What Results Can I Expect With Painting

Sorry Steve, I had to show the difference a spray gun can make:

Both are straight from the gun (£400 worth of for colour coats, and a £300 for the lacquer)

LOL @ Paintguy: Over 20 years in the trade and I've only met 2 people who'll let you see their work "straight from the gun"

You are one of them

Trust me, there's plenty of my work that I'd never put on show straight from the booth :D

I can't expect to plough through half a dozen or so jobs a day without the occasional hiccup, it's inevitable with the type of jobs we do mostly. The majority of our work comes from local car dealers, and they could care less what the job looks like in 6 months time, as long as it looks good when it leaves there forecourt. The economics involved me we can only manage 'patch up' jobs at best :(

It gets me down from time to time, but then we have the occasional car in where I can take the time to do it 'properly'. I'm currently enjoying working on a fellow members 205, and an old Rover P6. I'd go out of business if I opened my own place, as the satisfaction of knowing a job is spot on, and will stay that way for years to come, would overrule any thoughts of making a profit

Funny story from the other day:- I was putting a final 'wet' finish coat of 2k clear onto the side of a car, when an old guy came wandering into the spray booth, ignoring all the warning signs. My boss was hot on his heels and escorted him out, but I was so distracted that I went over the same panel a second time. I ended up with more runners than the London marathon! ;) Wouldn't want a picture of that finding its way onto here.
