kyepan 291 Posted July 30, 2006 (edited) Hi there, changed to a GAZ coilover setup, and when i put the suspension back on the car i noticed this gap, shown in pics below.. i'm sure it wasn't there before and the whole unit was flush with the top of the suspension tower. The nylock nuts done right up.. so its not loose. Its also quite crashy even though its set on the highest ride height setting! Any help appreciated cheers. Justin. Bono 0 Posted July 30, 2006 looks like you forgot to put a piece of the top mount back in? i assume the crashyness would be down to the stiffness of the damper not the ride height
kyepan 291 Posted July 31, 2006 (edited) So should it be flush with the top of the next bit down? from what i can remember it was [nut] [top flange] === .....!!......==== [bEARING] [iNSERT] (............ ) ......S.....) (......P..... ......R.....) (......I...... ......N.....) (......G....) [dAMPER] Edited July 31, 2006 by kyepan

j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted July 31, 2006 There should be a thick washer that goes on the strut first, then the bearing etc on top.
kyepan 291 Posted August 1, 2006 The standard suspension order from bottom to top: Any use? cant see the image from work.. cause its blocked, will check at home. cheers for all the replies though. may have forgotten about the washer in my diagram..
jackherer 543 Posted August 1, 2006 can you see this?
kyepan 291 Posted August 1, 2006 can you see this? yep thanks. that makes sense, items left to right abc.. i did not use item A because its a coil over kit.. so that may account for it.. on my car Item C appears too high so item F then protrudes.. Just phoned gaz and this washer somone mentioned is not part of the kit, all they supply is the shock, spring and adaptor cup that the top of the spring locates into before the bearing.. most strange. tom_m 0 Posted August 3, 2006 it looks to me like you've missed out the top mount rubber, thats the only time i've seen a gap that big and would explain the crashiness!
TEKNOPUG 3 Posted August 3, 2006 Yeah - you've either put the rubber mount in the wrong place or not at all. Apparently it's a really common error, happens all the time, Peugeot should hang their heads in shame for such a misleading design etc etc etc etc........
