trogboy 17 Posted July 8, 2006 If anyone has one of the domed pistons out of a 106XSi or an AX Gti lying around, could they measure the distance between the top of the hole for the gudgeon pin and the top of the piston? The total piston height would be useful too. Until this evening I was planning to use TU24 pistons in my TU3 bottom end to raise the compression but the TU24 piston turns out to be a shortarse and won't do the job. Fitting them would lower my compression to somewhere around 6.3:1. In retrospect I should have realised earlier since the TU24 block is about 10mm shorter that the TU3 ones but the stroke of the crank is only 4.5mm shorter so some of the extra difference had to be taken up somewhere or the TU24 piston would pop out of the top of the bore. Arse - just when I thought I was getting somewhere. Thanks Bren for the loan of the TU24 piston. Ad
