Painting Inlet Manifold

Recommended Posts

d-9

Im being a tart and have decided to paint my inlet, my first idea was to use normal paint, but the guy at the paint shop says it'll fall off when it gets hot, so ive grabbed a can of mega expensive high temperature paint from halfrauds. The question is, can I put it straight onto the ally, or do i need some kind of etch primer first?

aluminium radiator paint... £2.99 at local DIY store :D

i painted mine straight on and its lasted a year so far :D thats inlet manifold, head and block...

also used standard halfrauds car paint on my rocker cover and that has been fine for months ;)

Inlet manifold doesn't get hot enough that good old Hammerite wouldn't have been perfectly sufficient

I used engine enamel but radiator paint is good and cheap.

Hammerite straight on and mine's still shiney after 1500 miles. Just make sure it's proper clean first, give it a damn good scrub with white spirit and a bog brush first.
