Non Starting 1.9?

well its not a 205 but its a bx gti 1.9 :P

 

 

has compression has a spark and its fuelling(nice smell of fuel and wet plugs)

 

 

car was fine when it was parked up owner came out 2 weeks later to try and start it, she started missed like buggery for a wee while then proceeded not to start again.

 

now she wont even cough when turning over.

 

 

any thoughts guys????

this one could be the ECU coolant temp sensor causing massive overfuelling as someone suggested in your other thread.

where is this coolant temp sensor on a bx 1.9

on the back of the engine right underneath the distributor - it´s a blue plug

except that this isnt the problem with the other car, like I keep saying in the other thread... :P

 

where is this coolant temp sensor on a bx 1.9

 

on the thermostat housing, either on the side or back I dont remember, its a blue plug and sensor, just like the 205s.

if you take the spark plugs out and turn the engine over, being very carful, if it is the temp sensor then fuel will start spitting out the plug hole. if this is the case, before u start the engine after rectifing it, at a small amount of oil in each cylinder as the petrol will have stripped thew oil of the bores and there will be no protection.

thanx for the tip brian i'll remember that one :D

 

 

btw the bx has actually been diagnosed as a buggered coilpack, sparks all nasty anad weak seemingly.

 

 

BUT the 205 might be going tonight, got all the required ingredients arriving today.

 

 

a new tachymetric relay, a set of new injectors a gallon of holy water. and 3 virgins and a goat for sacrifice :)
