Bassman 1 Posted June 15, 2006 I am thinking of pinching the above engine management system from my 405. Can it be re-mapped easily? Is there any software available that would allow me to download the rom file, edit it and re-load it as you can do on aftermarket ECUs?
Ryan 99 Posted June 15, 2006 AFAIK all of the bosch motronic systems can be remapped. To read the ROM you'll have to open the ECU, take the chip out and put it in an EPROM reader as the ECU doesn't have a comms socket like afermarket ECUs. The EPROM will also contain the actual program the ECU runs, so you'd need to be familiar with the setup to know where the actual maps are and what effect any changes would have. Bassman 1 Posted June 15, 2006 I presume I could wire my own comms connection to allow me to read the EEPROM via a laptop, shouldn't be too difficult. Just need to try and understand the code and how to separate the map, from the fault codes and the programme etc etc
