Turbo-question Xu10j2te

Hello!

First i must say that i've tried to search the answer of my question here in the forum-search-function...

But i couldn't find a logic answer...

I have a 205 Gentry with XU10J2TE engine in it. The cars is chipped, so i think the turbocharger is defect now. (It runs maximum 1,0bar)

The original Garett T25 turbo is the problem, i think. While driving around, the pressure falls and falls and falls (I drove it over 500km) from 1,0bar to 0,4bar... Now the 0,4bar is constant- no ugly noise from the loader, no other confusing sound- all seems to be ok- except the pressure?!? :D

The waistgate is bridged- only for test. I putted a small metall ball in the mini-hose, that goes from the "pierburg solenoid" to the waistgate.. The waistgate down by the turbo (sorry for my bad english...) i tested with a pressure meter- this is not the problem... It is ok...

So the turbo must be the problem, am i right?

Can i use a garett GT25R instead of the original T25? I dont want to change anything on the exhaust manifold...

What can be the reason from my problem? Is it sure the turbo?

Cheers and thanks!

Matthias

IIRC 3psi is the pressure the turbo will blow do before the wastgate opens at the actuators miimum setting.

i had a problem of eratic low boost before caused by a worn clip to the wastgate. also ive had a problem with the amal valve eratily causing high and low boost before. have you checked these parts?

Hhmm could be waste-gate actuator or as said problem with boost regulator solenoid, whats this metal ball in the pipe you talk of?

Any air leaks ?

Im afraid not , not if you dont want to change the exhaust manifold.

Hi and thank you for the answers!

Hmm, the small metal ball in the pipe is between boot regulator soleniod and the big silver pipe which comes from the turbo... Its the same as closing both with tape or something.

I installed it for only for test- because then the waistgate in the turbo-manifold is deactivated and the whole pressure goes onto the turbocharger.

The waistgate I tested with a mecanican- he borrowed me a pressure-meter, and we could see that die waistgate isn't leak. The (under-)pressure you gave to it stayed a long time. (only the wastegate- I dont know, if the mecanic in the manifold is ok...)

In the beginning there were 1,0 bar. Now 0,4. I'm confused, because all seems to be normal!? :D:angry:

When the car is standing a longer period with running engine, the exhaust gas is smoking VERY VERY hard... and it smells like burning oil. Its really hard smoking- like a disco fog machine...:D

If you turn only one small round, the smoke is gone- no smell, no smoke, nothing...

I'm confused...?

I heard from a friend that the turbo is gone then...

Puuh, what can it be???

Cheers,

Matthias
