eob 7 Posted May 29, 2006 My Mi16 engine is almost finished so now, question marks start popping up in my head about management. The engine I bought came with no ECU and the loom looks a bit tatty [all alloy, non-CAT], so both need to be replaced. There's also the titchy fact that I hate cutting and splicing wiring when it comes to engine conversions, and I don't want to run Jetronic. My question is this... Can I grab an ECU/wiring loom from a K-plate+ Motronic 205 GTi 1.9, transfer this to my car [1.6 K-plate Jetronic] and fit the Mi16 that way [friend of mine can remap the ECU with no problems]? What I'm aiming for here, is to be able to just 'unplug' the section of loom that goes between the engine and the fuseboard and replace it with a 1.9 CAT Motronic version, inc the ECU?
