B1ack_Mi16 67 Posted May 23, 2006 Ok, this is the case. Got a XU11D engineblock today that I was planning to use the crank in my T16 engine (I have no crank in the T16 engine) to make it 2187cc. So I bought this block and I find it have spun the bearing on cyl. 3. I know it need to be measured, but is it likely that the block will be distorted due to the spinning, so even that can't be used? The 2.2 T16 engine will actually just be a T16 block, with 92mm crank and custom pistons and rods. It was too worn to use the std. pistons in it. Therefor I was planning to put the std. T16 internals into the 85mm bore XU11D block after it have been rebored to 86mm. T16 engine didn't come with crank but I have a XU10J4R one that fits the T16 internals. So what do you think, big risk that the block also is scrap, or does the iron blocks usually survive when spinning shells?

B1ack_Mi16 67 Posted May 23, 2006 Did it seize? No, it seemed to turn over just fine, I could turn it over easily by hand.
petert 611 Posted May 23, 2006 (edited) Just get the caps closed and the block tunnel bored. It cost me AUS$180 to have an alloy block done recently. Unless of course there's heaps of blocks laying around. I just noticed it's only a rod bearing. Why would the block be damaged? I thought you must have spun a main bearing.
