timmsy19 3 Posted May 4, 2006 (edited) Hi joe Ive just fitted some JBL front speakers which arent amped but they still give good vocals from the head unit, they would sound better amped i think. They also site behind the speaker grills nice and easy but u do have to be very carefull when putting the grills back on so as not to damage the tweeter Edited May 4, 2006 by timmsy19
d-9 0 Posted May 4, 2006 Infinity have a fairly good reputation, JBL are good value for money and rainbow are meant to be good for soundquality. Its definitly worth buying components as they seem to give much better bass.
Dj_mini 7 Posted May 4, 2006 (edited) JL xr components or coaxls sound amazing you wouldnt beleave the power they give out the only prob is they cost over £250 but are worth every penny if your after sound quality. They need a nice solid build to go in to get the best out of them. You can just see them in this pic in my paxo in a custom door build. Sorry about the size of pic i did try to make it smaller but it didnt work for sum reason? Edited May 4, 2006 by Dj_mini
d-9 0 Posted May 4, 2006 smaller? I cant see it as it is! JL are amazing, but i cant justify spending real money on speakers, as that £250 would buy a set of tyres, or some decent rear dampers, or a couple of decent secondhand buckets.
NoodleVille 0 Posted May 4, 2006 cheers for the feedback i was wondering though if i got some componants were abouts would i fit the tweeters as i dont want anything like that on show as i can guarantee you they would be in there for max 3 weeks lol 250 pound on a set of speakers that is a lotttttttttt of money for speakers i spent less than that on my 2 12" JL subs i got in the boot (they are mint subs though) do you know if JL do a cheaper range of speakers
d-9 0 Posted May 4, 2006 on mine i made little angle brackets and mounted the tweeters on the grille pointing towards the driver, near impossible to tell and i parked my car in the dodgiest part of cheltenham outside a dealers house for 3 months. think JL do some for about £180, but none of the online places quote prices, bloody JL. Im going with some of these, meant to be very good for sound quality: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_in...roducts_id=3854
NoodleVille 0 Posted May 4, 2006 just checked out those rainbow seem very nice but bit pricey i ended up just a min ago buying a set of infinity reference componants for 69 pound delivered 75 watts rms hopefully should do the job amped cheers guys
Paintguy 0 Posted May 5, 2006 You shouldn't be dissapointed by the Infinitys - nice sounding speakers IMO The Rainbows above are also meant to be very good, but I've never heard a pair personally. JL are trying to stop internet sales completely, hence nobody quotes prices. I have a set of their XR 653 3-way componants, which at around £450 were a bit on the expensive side, but they are very impressive. Their range starts with the TR's, then VR, XR, and the newly released ZR.
boombang 2 Posted May 5, 2006 JL are imported by BBG who are notoriously tough on discounters (they also import Caliber, Pheonix Gold). Harmann Cardonn (sp?) own JBL and Infinity and share most of the technology which is evident in their "plus one" ranges - there really isn't that much in it, but I have always enjoyed the sound from Infinity setups. I ran JBL "power" series components amped with a Maystar amp - pushing around 50watts into them - and they stood up to immense abuse (although the tweeters were the weak link and boiled, another set given to me FOC as replacements).
