How Do I Remove Circuit Board Behind Blower Fan Knob?

Recommended Posts

Dave_McC

How do you remove the PCB from behind the heater control knob? My dial does not seem to be connected to the recirculation flap on the heater box, and the fan blower's not working.

I've fitted a replacement blower motor (from a scrappie) and also tried changing the control module (though unfortunately I've no idea if the replacement one works!). I assume all control units are the same? (the original one seemed to have a large solder blob under the spring metal contact, whereas the replacement has a small black disk between the spring contact and the heatsink board.

Is there any way of testing the control module other than replacing with a known working one?

Cheers

Dave

Remove the three dials & then two philips screw holding the cover on so you can see the PCB.

IIRC it is clipped into the white plastic surround but if you suspect the cables aren't connected on the back of that then you need to partially strip the dash to get access to it & re-connect them.

Wire the motor directly to a battery to see if it works, usually a scrapyuard will test them before you buy them.

I don't know of any way to test the resistor board without replacement for a known good one.

Cheers Graham

How does the circuit board unclip - I sort of assumed it wouldn't because the fan knob spindle goes through to the cables at the back.

I seem to have dismantled a large amount of the dash and still don't have access to the back - which bits do I actually need to remove?

Thanks

Dave

The pcb is clipped into the white plastic surround but the clips snap very easily & iirc the dial centres might hold it in place somewhat as well.

To get at the back of the plastic that the pcb clips into I'mnot totalluy sure but I think the dash almost has to come out.
