Faulty Electric Window Regulator

Recommended Posts

Super Josh

Guys,

Drivers side window has stopped working. I removed the connector from the motor, and have seen these corroded before, because some bright spark mounted it facing upwards so that water can get into the top of it and sit there :) Anyway connector looks fine and I can measure battery voltage on the connector and have tried swapping the window switches over and the problem still persists.

So i'm coming to the conclusion that the motor must be fubared. So a couple of questions. Has anyone removed the regulator from the door whilst it is still extended in the fully up position? I asssume that it's much easier to remove when you can place it in the down position, will it give me many problems?

Has anyone stripped a motor and got it working again? What is the usual failure mode? knackered brushes? needs a good lube? Or is it time to just fit a decent second hand one?

Cheers,

Josh

I'd fit a second hand one - just cheap and easy fix.

As said, just fit a second hand one, and yes, you can remove them with the window in the fully closed position just fine :)
