What's the best air pressure to be painting my bonnet with because i've got 120psi in the air line's which i think is a bit to much to blow paint on with?

If I remember correctly:

120psi is ~ 8.25bar.

Average workshop compressed air systems operate at 7 to 10 bar, with a filter/regulator reducing the spraygun pressure to around 3 bar / 45psi.

Hope that helps.

Very much as above, but it does depend on your gun, setup, paint, and conditions.

For a 'normal' gun 3 Bar is a good starting point, for a HVLP gun, start at around 1.8-2.0 bar.

I could go into how to set your gun up before you paint, but this article explains it much more eloquently than I ever could. The first part is mainly about HVLP guns, but the second half about the actual tuning of your gun, applies to any type.
