Eryl1.9Gti 0 Posted March 29, 2006 My stereo got nabbed a while ago. After 3 months of no tunes i need a stereo, but i have a small problem. When the radio was taken the plastic block has gone with it. I think its the power one as the battery kept on dying untill i taped up the wires (been told that it was a fire just waiting to happn). Also the aerial connector thing has gone awol. Does anyone have pictures or know where the wires go in the block as i have no idea. Its a 1989 F 1.9 Gti if the wiring is diff on other years. Thanks Ez
timmsy19 3 Posted March 29, 2006 (edited) if all the wires are the same which i think they are this topic might be of some help Clicky Clicky Edited March 29, 2006 by timmsy19
aeinstein 0 Posted March 29, 2006 its a bit of a mess on, but if your new stereo has an iso connector (the 2 chunky blocks, one power, one speakers,) then for the preservation of that, i would try to find a 205 in the scrappy, and plunder that for the wires, up to and including the connectors. if they are the same, i think they should be, simply match them up, preferably soldered, and with heat shrink, but if not then securely with connector blocks and electrical tape. it is even possible to do the same with the aerial lead, but you need to be careful to keep the core and the thin wire shrouding separate, for the quality of the signal. the only other thing to consider, is that if the 205 connector that you fit isn't an iso, then you might have to get an adaptor to join the 2. lets know how you get on. al

Eryl1.9Gti 0 Posted April 23, 2006 Right Stereo is in!!!!!!!!!!! Got my stereo and it came with the block i needed BINGO!!! Used a wire connectors to join the red yellow and black wires together from the new block to the ones which were left dangling. BUT still no power Hmmmm so i was a bit puzzled. Thought there would be a fuse in the wiring but i found nothing. After the break-in the fuse for the central locking had gone but i never bothered to replace it, changed the bstard and stereo comes to life. Any way all is good now, just cant seem to get the stereo out wityhout the cage coming out withi it. Not taking any chances this time no stereo in there for them to steal.
