Differnt manuals cover different things, the new (brown) 309 manul is near useless, the old (pink) covers much more.

To cover everything, you really need both 205 manuals and both 309 manuals.

The engine is the same in a 309 and a 205, as the gearbox. The suspension is pretty much identical apart from dimensions and brakes are very similar.

P.S. If you only have a 309 then I don't see the point in owning all 4 Haynes manuals! The 205 one should be a good start, preferably the older edition but the new one is better than nothing.

Because there is no mention of the air con system in the 309 manuals, very little info on the auto box in one of the manuals and the 205 wiring is numberd differently to the 309 wiring. But maybe its because I own a freak 309.

The 205 manual doesn't really mention the aircon system either. It says something along the lines of "aircon was an option from 1993, consult your pug dealer in case of problems".

I have the later 205 manual, and a 309 maual, not sure if it is the earlier or later one other than it a brownie redish colour, with non white pages, and it covers alot more than the 205 maual especiall with regards to the rear beam.

Early 309 maual is pink, late one is brown. 205 manual gave enough information on the aircon system to allow me to deduce the wiring and figure out which bit was broken, rather than taking it to a specialist and giving them £50/hour to figure it out.
