New Engine Management Only Upgrade

Recommended Posts

Guest toby7

Hi,

option1

Has anyone replaced their computer in their 1.9 205 gti d6b engine for a fully mappable engine management (fuel and ignition ) on a completely standard engine. This would get rid of the afm and pod directly on throttle body.

What were the results ? What's it like to drive ?

It would cost me $950 for the engine management, $1000 to install and tune on a rolling road. $2000 total

Option 2

If I put the money into the head ( 3angle, porting and skim) + better cam would the Bosche LE Jetronic provide the correct fuel air ratio throughout the rev range ?

This would cost me $2000 + labour costs

Regards

Peter

you'll gain a bit no doubt, mostly from optimised ignition. I don't suppose you got the citroen zx over there? Do a search for mp3.1 with the username pugtorque, its a more modern form of engine management that makes the 205 behave. Most importantly its a scrappy raiding mission which makes it a very cost effective upgrade.

I;ve done this with a Blueprinted 1.6 engine and gained a mere 12 bhp from it
