Fuel Leak From Base Gasket

Recommended Posts

JimyFloyd

Hi,

I've replaced the base gasket to the carb on my XS twice now and it's still leaking fuel...this leads me to believe that the surfaces it sits on are screwed?

Could this be possible?

Any ideas/remedies?

Cheers

James

I've found this with two different xs carbs i've put on my engine. Seems to be much more aparent when running rich than when lean, but haven't been able to stop it completely.

Have you tried something like instant gasket instead of the preformed gaskets?

I've no idea what any of these components look like, so my suggestion might not be practicable, but - if you can take the components off you might be able to resurface them evenly by rubbing them on a reasonably fine grade wet and dry on the work bench.

Just place the w&d on the flat work bench surface and press the component down onto it - scrub in circular motion to resurface evenly

??
