Dixon 1 Posted February 9, 2006 Will 306 gti-6 rear brakes fit on a 309 beam? I'm not looking to upgrade as such, just i've got a 309 beam to go on my 1.6 but have no brakes for it yet. (for reference my front brakes are gti-6 items too) And what would be a good price for rear callipers and pads? I've been quoted £70 delivered, or is this a bit much? Thanks. pug_ham 242 3 Cars Posted February 9, 2006 (edited) I thought they were the same discs & calipers as already fitted to the 205 / 309 GTi but after looking on Brakeword they aren't, different discs anyway. The 306 bits won't fit the rear looking at the spec on there as the offset (? HT) is different. Pricewise, is that for GTi-6 parts or 309 GTi? Seems a bit high for 309 bits imo. Graham. Anthony 1,000 Posted February 9, 2006 Rear calipers are the same as far as I know on all rear disk braked 106/205/306/309/ZX (and some Renaults), and GSF lists the same part numbers for both calipers and pads for 205's and 306's. As Graham says though, the rear disks appear to be different.
Powers 13 Posted February 9, 2006 The calipers are the same. Its just the disc offset that is different.
DrSeuss 0 Posted February 9, 2006 I think the only difference is that at some point they made the bleed nipples 1 thread size larger, from m7 to m8
Dixon 1 Posted February 9, 2006 Ok then, thanks. Probably best to stick with 205/309 items then. Will be cheaper too I guess. I'm assuming 205 and 309 rear brakes are the same? Anyone selling any?
Col 0 Posted February 9, 2006 if your buying second hand you might find the gti6 brakes, although the same will have had less use so probably better in the long run?
DrSeuss 0 Posted February 9, 2006 i'd go find a zx 1.9 td or a lower spec 306 quite easy to find in comparison.
Anthony 1,000 Posted February 9, 2006 i'd go find a zx 1.9 td or a lower spec 306 quite easy to find in comparison. The only 306's with rear disk brakes to the best of my knowledge is the GTi-6, Rallye, S16, and XSi (and their equivilents on ZX's, namely Volcanes and 16v). TD's and lower spec models have drums at the back...
888rmb 6 Posted February 9, 2006 And what would be a good price for rear callipers and pads? I've been quoted £70 delivered, or is this a bit much? Thanks. Is that new or second hand? If they are second hand £70 seems dear.
Dixon 1 Posted February 10, 2006 Yeah thats for second hand parts. Glad its not just me that thinks £70 is a bit much. Will keep looking elsewhere then I think.
