Megasquirt-ii Part 2

Recommended Posts

Mad Professor

Hi All.

Most of you all ready know I have got my MegaSquirt-II running for fuel only on my Turbo Technics.

Well I got feed up waiting for 60-2 trigger wheel support code (version 2.55 ).

So I designed up my own 36-1 Trigger wheel, just got to wait for it to turn up now.

Hope to be running on fuel and spark within two weeks.

Yep, Over the last week I have been testing all the little bit's here and there, and all seems to be working fine.

Just need the last few bit's, and a bunch of wiring.

Mad,

Would you run MegaSquirt on a daily driver or would you not recommend it?

Megasquirt is used a reasonable amount in the ford community. One guy on there has an economy map which he loads on to drive home from uni. And a super power map to tonk down the 1/4 mile.

The idle will never be perfect but compared to a 205/mi16, it'd be a massive improvement. Lots more modern.

Seriously tempted to get one to have a fiddle with on the TU engine, standard management is duff anyway.

I shall wait until everything on your's is running first though, so I can nick idea's and get help :):)

What nonsense....Why do you need 2 maps? These 2 activities use totally different areas of the rev/load range - You can have both within a correctly optimised map....

It's a common misconception, but un-necessary....

However, if you wanted to run ie. 2 different grades of fuel....Different story, 2 maps would be required.

The Haltech E6X can switch between maps at the flick of a switch. Ideal for race fuel, Petrol/LPG or even Valette Parking. Set the rev limiter to 2000 RPM!

Occured to me that you could use that function in the event of car jacking. It'd look as though the car ran fine when they drove off, but with a 1200rpm limit it'd take 'em a while to get anywhere.

Must admit I'm not sure I'd have the presence of mind to flick that switch in that event though

You could perhaps use a latching relay with the trigger signal taken from your radio reciever? That way it'd engage when you locked the car.

Fit a cheap pay as you go mobile in the car somewhere. With the ringer taken out and replaced with wires to a switch. Ring the mobile up and disable the car. If your clever about it you could easily disable the car set it to auto answer and shout at the c*nts who've stolen your car through the stereo system.....

you'd have to set valet/girlfriend mode up to stop them over slipping the clutch too though

Interesting choice!

I brought my TT manifold from him! Sounds like he use to have a lot to do with turbo techics.

Any time scales when you will be taking the car down?
