Glove Box Disaster

Recommended Posts

Jez G

I hit a pot hole on Friday coming home from work !

The impact caused the fuse / relay holder to brake away from the fixing behind the top of the glove box. As it fell onto the glove box the clip that hold the glove box shut broke away with it

It seems there is about 3 or 4 of plastic has broken away.

It all seemed very brittle, I suppose it hardens with age mine is an 87 car.

Dose anyone know of a fix, short of replacing the hole of the passenger side dash. I had a quick look to see it I could bridge the gap with a strip of metal so I could re attach the glove box clip but there doesnt seem to be anything to anchor it to.

Thanks !

Jez

I have absolutely no idea what is going on with the fuse box... And as you can see, the killswitch is floating around as it pleases. I also had something else appear from the dash yesterday - what it is i have no idea... Although it is electrical and kinda dangles...

Since that photo was taken (and that bloody awful steering wheel was disposed of) i accidentally snapped of a bit more, so now the top section is all there is...

How difficult is it to put the later model dash in?

And it is unfortunate jez, but the plastic is so crap that little will save your dash... It is possible to have it plastic welded, but it is probably better just to embrace the stripped look. I suspect the brittleness is a problem with the early dashes - i have never actually seen one intact.
