Coolant hose heat protection

Recommended Posts

DamirGTI

Thinking about what to do with this coolant hose on the picture down below ..

It's very close to the turbo and almost touching the exhaust manifold as well .

It's specific , unobtanium hose of course , but luckily one of the two which i have is still really good .. so i'd like to protect it from the heat somehow .

When i took it off from the engine to inspect it and clean it , i noticed there was some beige tape kind of stuff underneath the hose clips .. not sure if that was something like heat protection which was on the entire hose when it was new , or just something to stop the clips digging into the hose ?!

Anyhow , the hose is silicone on the inside and rubber on the outside .

So thinking about sliding over some exhaust wrap , or making some kind of small heat shield ..

Get yourself some high temperature silicone tubing with fiberglass inside, Peugeot used some on the XU9J4 bypass rubber hose and also on the 309 GTI16 speedo cable.

Well , i went through my pile of exhaust shielding material , and made something like so .

I hope it wont go "instrumental" at some point !

Missing the hose clips of course , so just a trial to see how it looks and fits .
