Hi gud,

Finished a Rebild today. After having torqued up the head bolts I noticed that the manufacturer indicated that one should Loosen and re-torque the bolts. Never done that - is it right to do it?

Heat to 80 c loosen and re-torque?

Thanks

Never done it with oem bolts but do it with ARP studs. I don't understand why, because oem bolts (and their replacements) are TTY. So once you've reached the yield point, they can't be re-used.

You can reuse OEM XU10J4RS bolts even in Gr.N engines as long as they didn't stretch too much. Of course that's if you torque them according to spec.

Martin can you post the whole procedure? Surely you need to tighten the bolts a bit before geting the engine up to 80°C... unless you put it inside a heated paint booth but that's not very practical.
