BE1 - Trouble selecting 2nd Gear.

I've got the gearbox apart and its as if the lift up cable stopper for the reverse gear has worn enough for the selector to go half way between selecting 2nd & reverse. 

I have not seen what these look like new so I've added photos of mine for advice.

Should the plunger on the lift up cable be tapered like the photo?

Should the selector have a notch in it?

If they are knackered, are these parts available to buy new? or has anyone successfully repaired them?

 

Also seems to fall out of 3rd now and again, not sure if that;s related to struggling to engage 2nd.

I stripped the rest of the gearbox apart and found this.

The selector fork ball that locates in the two notches on the shaft was stuck in.

I'm certain this is the cause of 3rd gear slipping out.

The plunger is tapered and the taper should be consistant all around, not sure about the selector.

Thanks for confirming this. 

I think I found the issue last night and I'm not convinced its the reverse stopper, as said the 1st gear would be difficult aswel.

I found moving the selector into second with the gear assembly on the bench it is stiffer and notchy compared to the rest of the gears. 

I have another gearbox in bits I'm using as spares. The second gear in that seems smother, but I need to finish putting it back together to be sure..
