As above , anyone remember how much Nm's where the 6 bolts which join the two oil pump halves ?

15Nm or 20Nm ? not sure !

are they m6 or m7?    m6 probably needs 13nm, m7 20nm.

M6 !

It felt like about 15Nm whilst undoing ..

Cannot remember where was that torque spec in which book/manual ?!

I don't recall it being shown, they don't want you to open them up

Hmm , fair point !

I certainly did open them before , no idea about how much Nm i've been using to nip up those bolts , the joys of getting older

Way too many PSA crap all around the place , parts and books/pdf's too , think i've had/seen some paper about oil pumps ..

Anyhow speaking about crap , i went digging and found two more XU10 pumps , and some peculiar hoses with posh bends and mint looking turbo actuator all which i long forgot about having , will do handy for this engine build !

I tried my small torque wrench on the bolts of those spare oil pums and it clicks at about 11-12Nm , at 14-15Nm it starts to tighten so 15Nm is too much ..

So it's either 10 or 12Nm id say .

They don't really mind if you undo the bolts because they sell you some of the internal parts and also have small baffles that uses those bolts. Now it's true that the torque spec feels a bit like a trade secret.

I managed to find a value on the very first Citroën XUD worshop manual and it's 0,9 m.daN so yes it's close to 10 Nm.

11Nm for me and a dab of 243 Loctite. If one of those suckers comes undone it’s curtains. Ditto for the piston oil sprayers.

Oh , one more thing ..

How about mixing/swapping the halves from one pump to another , and same for the gears , possible or best to avoid ?

Halves feels fine as long as it's the same kind but I'm not so thrilled about the gear. Neither is Peugeot because you can't buy the gear but you can order some of the pickup halves.

I see ..

From the lot of the pumps i have various conditions of the individual parts , but all still pretty good considering the age .

Interestingly one pump which has pitted gears has the best pick up halve with almost zero scoring .. so been thinking of using just that pick up halve on one of the other pumps with good gears .

They're all XU10J2TE pumps ...
