Extra bits with wheel bearing

Recommended Posts

I replaced the rear wheel bearing in our 1.6GTI.  This particular bearing came with some additional bits in the box.  Are they of any use to me?  Are they for fitment to a totally different car?

As well as the circlip (fitted) and nut, there are two sheet steel 'caps' (slightly different sizes) and a rubber bush/grommet/seal thing.

the rubber dust seal sits on the spigot on the stub axle, the metal shield is tapped in on the rear side for the dust cover, you only need to use one.

Thanks Mei,  is it usual for a track car to not have either the rubber dust seal or the shield fitted?  Perhaps the previous owner was trying to reduce unsprung weight ;)
