DAB Radio Help

Evening gang. 
 

I bought my son a 2012 Polo for his first car. The original radio was pish so I swapped it out for a fancy Pioneer touch screen thing that is pretty cool. 
 

I robbed it from a part exchange car at work so I didn’t get the DAB antenna. 
 

I bought one off Amazon but it’s hopeless. Just loses signal all the time (my car and my wife’s car never drop out in this area)

 

can anyone recommend a reliable aerial? 
 

He says he’s happy with Spotify but I know he wants to listen to talk sport! 
 

can you advise or tell me if I’m doing something wrong?

I've not had good experiences with aftermarket DAB aerials, seems all of the inside the windscreen stick on ones are absoloute garbage.  Apparently the shark fin type work well but I never fancied a hole in the roof.

 

Did the 2012 polo come with DAB in any model?  VW like putting the aeriels inside the wing mirror and it seems to work well, perhaps a retrofit if there is a factory option?

Another vote for the windscreen type dab aerials being a bit s*it unfortunately.
