Engine number designation

Recommended Posts

Reebmit

Hi all, I’m sure one of you will have all the info Im striving for, been searching everywhere but to no avail. On the Xu9 engines the engine number has a designation like ICW63 and ICW44 then the engine number. Does anyone know what ICW63 is for? I believe ICW44 is on 8v 1.9 GTi……I THINK ICW6F is 1.6 8v GTi. Is there a list somewhere of these codes that are at the beginning of the engine number on the little aluminium tag against actual engine type/size? I am after what the designation for an Mi16 1.9 on 405 mi’s would be…….Any help appreciated.

SRDT

1CW** is for a 1.9 petrol engine, 1 = engine, C = from the Tremery plant (for an engine) and W = 1.9.

The last two digits can tell you about the car, country of destination, engine equipment (pas, A/C...), engine variant and the like.

Sadly I don't have a list of the last two digits :(
