Rear Engine / Driveshaft Mount...

Recommended Posts

Curiosity has got the better of me (and despite probably already knowing the answer) thought I'd throw it out there anyhow...

The rear engine / driveshaft mount pictured below, unfortunately I can't replicate how it actually looks in real life using a photo.

I can only describe it as having a smooth, pearleasant finish and an even more pronounced pink'ish sheen than you can maybe make out in the image.

(That's it in it's natural finish, not painted etc.)

I rightly or wrongly assumed it'd be aluminium, but perhaps not?

I've cleaned up other (presumably) aluminium parts from the same car recently, and they've taken on the appearance you'd (I'd) expect.

Cheers, it would've surprised me if it weren't, but like I say there was just a niggle that perhaps Peugeot may have done something off the wall because of the work it probably does... bizarre finish to it though.

Related query...

Caveat is I can't be certain anything on this car hasn't been changed over the years, sometimes you can make an educated guess based on various things and err on the side that a specific item is, or is not original, but obviously could be wrong.

Miamistu doesn't appear to give bolt strengths, perhaps there's other data sources that do (likewise some of the measurements given match, or closely match reality, others not, but that's for another topic)?

The bracket below, shown post a clean up / new bush.

In the second image are what I suspect are the original bolts along side 'new' ones, sold as direct replacements.

Measurement wise they're almost identical (threaded length/socket size are different, but that doesn't overly impact on anything).

One of the originals, I can't make out what strength it's marked, but the other is clearly 10.9 (they both have the same makers logo, and 'seem' genuine.)

Both the new ones are 8.8.

It being an engine mount, I'd have guessed 10.9 would be the minimum... unless of course, you know differently?
