Spare wheel carrier

Recommended Posts

This is probably a daft question.

On my 1992 Gentry spare wheel sits of course below boot floor.

I wish to stow it inside boot to keep clean and in easy reach if needed.

Problem is that empty carrier then is loose and rattles even when lock is fully tightened from above inside boot.  Might even be jolted loose and fall down.

Hope this makes sense.  Any bright ideas?

Regards

Keep the spare wheel in it, far safer and easy to access.

Or take the cage off.

It cant fall off with the bolt done up as it clamps the cage

its a great little spare carrier

you could plug the two front hooks with small foam/rubber blocks to stop any rattles if needed

Andrew

Thanks

The carrier beneath my car is only secured by ONE hook attached to big bolt through boot floor.

Could it be that there is bit missing?  Highly likely.

Just seen news of queensland weather.  Hope you have your wellies handy.

If your not going to use it take it off ,it hooks on at the back and needs the spare wheel in to stop it rattling

ta john, no wellies needed as the flooding's 10hours north but anything could happen

you aren't missing any bits, just my poor description

the front of the spare wheel carrier hooks up onto two loops, and is then secured at the rear with the bolt/hook thru the floor

Leslie & Andrew

Thanks chaps

I was apparently expecting more sophistication from PSA.  Been around Mercedes too long!

Cage will be coming off and stored.

Happy Xmas
