Central Locking Phase 1

Recommended Posts

Bob_Acid

Hi all, first post, although I’ve been using the site a great deal for tech help, thanks for that.

I have an ‘86 CTI and my latest problem is that the central locking has packed up on the passenger door. It’s the earlier hexagon type actuator which are hard to find. I’ve opened it up and the motor tabs are snapped off, impossible to get a purchase with solder and the cog is fixed so I can’t switch the motor.

I have access to a later donor car with the square actuators but they don’t seem to work being added into the older system.

my question is, could I retrofit the complete later system into my older car and what will I need to take out of the donor car?

Thanks in advance  :)

SRDT

Passenger door has a "dumb" actuator either way so I guess any kind sould work fine if wired correctly.

I have tried 2 of the later square actuators and neither worked properly.
