Engine/box refitting - best method please ??

Recommended Posts

Tideee

Greetings everyone :D

I've had my 8v engine out for a while now, rebuilding/renewing and it's all now re-assembled along with gearbox fitted and ready to go back into the car :)

Put simply - what are all you guys "best" methods and "top tips" for getting it back in the car in one piece please ?

Is it remove the bonnet and "up and over" the front cross member

OR

Lift the front of the car up and slide the engine/box  "under and up" and then drop the car back down onto it ??

Any advice greatly received ....

Thanks all :P

I go from the bottom but mostly because I don't have a hoist nor anywhere to store one

Remove the slam panel and cooling package, hoist it in with a load balancer with the gearbox pointing downwards so you stick it under the chassis leg. Then use the balancer to level the engine and set it on the mounts.
