Feeling a bit daft but I can't find where the ECU is positioned in 1.9 GTI - can anyone guide me, please?

It is on the firewall inside the car.  It has been a while though so I don't remember if it is passenger's or driver's side.

Found this with a search:

Ecu Location - Topics from 2008 - 205GTIDrivers.com

Worth using the search function on here, there are LOT of old posts that contain a lot of answers

Thank you, I will look for it right now! (I did try search for 'ECU' but, surpisingly, nothing came up !)

It's hidden right up there, under the dash, drivers side. Annoyingly, the mounting plate is retained by one of the dash retaining bolts which go through the firewall.

Where Tom says, up under the lower dash panel by your right knee as you sit in the drivers seat, you have to lay over the sill with the door open to see it, tachymetric relay is usually by it too.

Thanks all - actually, my interest in the ECU has waned, as I gather that it plays no part in controlling the ignition spark, lack of which is my current problem !

(I will raise that as a separate post/query)

That depends whether it's Jetronic (1.9 non-CAT) or Motronic (1.9 CAT) - the former is fuel only, the latter controls both fuel and ignition.
