205gti 1.6 correct road tyre size

Hi all. I need a little advice.  My 1.6 GTI is running on standard 14' pepperpot type rims. The tyres on her are what were on her when I purchased her. They are 185/55r14. The spare wheel however has a 185/60r14 on it. I plan on replacing tyres soon as the rears are fairly old, good thread still though. My question is,  which is the proper size tyre to put on? Car is for road use solely. Can someone explain the differences between these for handling/comfort,  if any? Thanks for any help.

185 60 14, 55 profile was used on the 106.
