Removal of gear stick mechanism on MA gearbox

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I realized I can use some help. I had a problem with popping out of gear upon release of the clutch. I do have an TU1M engine with an MA gearbox.

I would be interested to know how I can remove the gearshift selection bar (the bigger of the two rods) from the vehicle. Seen from under the car it goes into some rubber gaiter where the gear stick ends. From Inside the car I removed the center console. Then removed the M6 nuts around the top metal plate (servicebox term is gearshift control boot plate). But the M6 threaded ends are pretty tall and the carpet goes pretty far over this metal plate. So, the main problem is that I cannot pull this metal plate upward.

I would be grateful if somebody can explain to me how I can properly unmount this from the car. Thanks in advance.
