Dashboard warning lights not working

Recommended Posts

Steve205

Hi all. Just had a new alternator and battery fitted to my 1989 1.6 GTI.

Have just noticed that the Stop light/ Oil pressure light and Engine temp light no longer work. They used to flash on when ignition switched on previously.

Gauges all still work. Handbrake light and battery light still  work also.

Does anyone have any idea what the cause could be.

Any help appreciated.

Stephen

all those wires go through a 7 pin brown plug just under the afm on most ages of 205, these are known to corrode badly as they are not a sealed plug.

I'd start by pulling each wire off its sensor and earthing them to the block and seeing what happens on the dash.

Thanks Welshpug. Just traced it back to the brown plug. 2 loose wires. Sorted. Thank you.
